JBJSF Partners with Serve.gov and Oxfam International to Inspire Volunteerism

In each market, a staff of 5-10 volunteers from either Serve.gov and/or Oxfam manned the charity table(s) along the concourse passing out an array of different materials. The table(s) were staffed from the time doors open until Bon Jovi hit the stage. In this leg of the tour, the volunteers spoke with fans and passed out promotional materials on the purpose of the Soul Foundation, as well as the various causes each charity stands for.

They also asked people to sign up for the “I Pledge” campaign. Together with Serve.gov, the JBJSF has created this campaign in which fans could sign up at the concourse tables indicating that they wanted to volunteer in their local communities. In exchange, they each receive a blue “I Pledge” wristband to wear showing that they had pledged to volunteer in their community. In total, we have had over 500 people sign up for this initiative! After the concert, those who signed up received an email with a link to Serve.gov so they could view a list of possible volunteering options in their local community. In a few weeks, we will contact them again asking for a recap of their experiences and how they made a difference in their local communities. We hope to feature a few of the stories on our website.

If you signed up to participate in the “I Pledge” campaign at one of the Bon Jovi concerts and have volunteered in your community, we want to hear from you! Please email your story to info@jbjsoulfoundation.org and we may feature you on our website!

The JBJSF would like to thank Serve.gov, Oxfam, and all of our wonderful volunteers for partnering with us. We look forward to continuing our partnership as the tour picks up again in May.
